<h2>Attaching New Files</h2>To attach a new file to a task, simply open the task and drag a file on to the task from your desktop to begin an upload.<img src="https://uploads.productlane.com/1623ba6f11781fb4a79314c19232aa5b.png">Once the upload is complete, your files will be added to your task.<h2>Creating New Files as Attachments</h2>Additionally, if you'd like to create a brand new file such as a document or bookmark, you can click the Paperclip icon to create a new file attachment.<img src="https://uploads.productlane.com/3eac4d786dda7d53295791462e0bbc24.png">Select Add New File to view a list of new file options.<img src="https://uploads.productlane.com/44ee99befba475a9aa29713d6afb0469.png">Select the type of file you would like to create and then proceed with creating the file.<img src="https://uploads.productlane.com/9bf51b8b95ab3999ee03e926e57d1cc5.png">Once you are done, click Back on the file and you will return to your task with the new file attached.<img src="https://uploads.productlane.com/280322f502c16cd8d0ff1eb88c181c0b.png"><blockquote>To learn more about different file types in Assemble, click <a href="https://assemble.productlane.com/docs/files/file-types" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" class="cursor-pointer box-border font-semibold border-b hover:border-b-[2px] transition-all duration-75 " style="text-decoration: none; color: inherit; border-color: var(--portal-accent-color);">here</a>.</blockquote><h2>Adding Existing Files as Attachments</h2>You can also attach any existing files from your project. First, click the Paperclip icon on any task.<img src="https://uploads.productlane.com/6306aa1390787f38e206e1bf9cc61010.png">Next, select Attach File from Project.<img src="https://uploads.productlane.com/8f95b87019c3bf2a7bdba5589c5b12f1.png">On the next screen, you'll be able to search any files from the project and select the file you want to attach. When you're done, click Save to attach the file to your task.<img src="https://uploads.productlane.com/2326030598f425915759abee85929bf5.png"><h2>Organizing your Attachments in your Project</h2>When creating a calendar in Assemble, you will break down your timeline into Phases. Each task is typically created with one of these phases.<img src="https://uploads.productlane.com/6b3d0b7753edba4b05d1f4ef4033e15d.png">Files are organized in your project by phases also. Whenever you create a phase in your calendar, an associated folder is also created for that phase.Therefore, whenever you attach a file to a task, it is automatically organized into the associated phase folder.
